Eating clean is a term that means developing the right eating habits that will benefit the body by keeping it healthy. It operates under two very simple and easy to follow principles.
The first principle is to choose the healthiest food option from among the many types of the same food. To illustrate, let me give an example of how to choose fruits and vegetables when faced with many choices. Simple knowledge tells us that vegetables and fruits must be a part of our everyday meal. But, in clean eating, these fruits and vegetables are just not of any type. From the wide array of choices, pick those that are organic and natural. Remember that there are vegetables and fruits that are already infested with chemicals during production. Hence, their nutritional value is lessened. Aside from fruits and vegetables, you can practice choosing the healthiest food option by looking at the labels. Words that indicate processed, refined and preserved are mostly unhealthy. Healthy labels include natural, organic and whole.
A good food suggestion to include in your clean eating regimen is quinoa. This is a relatively new health ingredient that is packed with protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. It is also known to prevent certain illnesses like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This health food can be easily prepared by following some recipes with quinoa.
The second principle in clean eating is to eat a balanced diet. This means that every meal must include a food source that can provide a complete set of nutrients for the body. It is best to have a source of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals in every meal. Make sure that the carbohydrate is a complex type; the protein coming from lean meats; and vitamins and minerals from fresh and natural fruits and vegetable sources like the ones illustrated above.
A balanced diet also entails eating a complete set of meals in one day in recommended portions. It is suggested that there should be five small meals in a day consisting of breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks.
Eating clean is not limiting your food intake. It is also not restricting the types of food that you eat. It is making the right food choices knowing that they impact the body’s overall health. Eating clean is easily developed with patience, self-control and determination.
